Environment.
We believe that we have a responsibility to preserve and protect our environment. This requires an approach that looks both outwards and inwards. Whilst passive design principles provide measures for a healthier ecology. Where it’s not possible to bring the outside in, Biophilia comprises elements and attributes that can be translated into the design of spaces so that they may be more fluent with natural processes and cycles, and enhance our human biological connection to nature and our wellness.
Place.
We believe that we have a responsibility to respect and reflect the natural, and in many cases man-made origins of place. This is guided by a sensitive and slow approach to understand the premise and purpose of each place, and develop a design that encourages a meaningful connection to the living that will go on within and around it. To this effect, we do not solely design for human-centric causes but rather seek to incorporate a more holistic approach that contemplates a wider view of the world we share.
Community.
We believe that we have a responsibility to engage and uplift our community. We seek to support local and often custom design items that can be handmade by local craftsman, as well as look to re-purpose treasured items. Quality, minimalism and conscious consumption are also of paramount importance to reduce waste and create meaningfully curated spaces that will be long lived and loved. Naturally these evolve as considered, clean and calm spaces to both reduce our footprint and enhance wellbeing.
People.
We believe that we have a responsibility to deepen our connection with our self, each other and the world around us. Many of us in the modern world spend our entire lives within spaces. These spaces do not just facilitate our lives, they have the potential to elevate and enhance our entire lived experience. Sensory design seeks to expand upon a purely aesthetic response, and incorporate an array of complimentary elements that inspire slower engagement and allow us to resonate with each space on a deeper level.
